Kathryn Socie
Kathryn Socie received a B.A. in Sociology and Philosophy that she promptly put to work in the non-profit sector, writing grants, outreach materials, web content and op-ed pieces for several organizations in Wyoming and Montana. She went on to further develop these skills on behalf of the Humane Society of Western Montana in Missoula, MT where she also explored veterinary medicine, working as a technician in both small and large animal clinics. She returned to school to receive a B.S. in pre-veterinary and ecological sciences and began doing field work examining community and disease ecology with the Rocky Mountain Research Station while also freelance science writing and editing academic manuscripts.
Her love for wild places and open spaces is rivaled only by her obsession with climbing absurdly steep hills often and sleeping in the high country. She gives thanks and praise for the NPR science desk, wicked strong coffee, long Sunday runs and, no surprise, dogs.
